After a long absence, the “durrrr” Challenge is finally back in full swing. 92 days had passed since the last match up between Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius took place, but a high stakes Pot Limit Omaha game started at the Full Tilt Poker tables on August 2nd, which led to a fifty minute session in which the pair contested 280 hands.
Antonius emerged triumphant, booking a $244,599 win, largely thanks to two huge pots close to the end of the session. The first was worth $160,394 and saw Dwan flop the nut straight, plus an open ended straight flush draw, while Antonius held bottom set plus the nut flush draw. Understandably, the money went to the middle fairly quickly. The turn paired the board, giving Antonius a full house, while the river offered no help to “durrrr”.
The second monster pot came less than five minutes later and also went the way of the Finnish poker professional. It was he who started something of a pre-flop raising war, before eventually getting all-in, with “durrrr” calling. Dwan’s hand was vastly superior, but Antonius flopped the nut straight to take the lead. The turn ensured Dwan held plenty of outs, but a rag on the river ensured Antonius scored the $185,579 pot.
The pair followed up this Pot Limit Omaha session a day later, with a further 182 hands and Tom Dwan more than recouped the money he had lost the day before. Five pots were played that tipped the scales at over $100,000 and all five went the way of “durrrr”.
In total, Antonius dropped $459,961.50 to Dwan at Full Tilt’s virtual felt, leaving him down a little over $2 million in the challenge outright, with just over 10,500 hands remaining.
Doubts have surfaced in the past as to whether or not this marathon poker challenge would ever be completed, but questions asked during the recent World Series of Poker appear to have kickstarted the competition and the two professional poker players appear keen to tie things up.
High stakes regular “Jungleman12” looks like being next in line for a “durrrr” challenge, after the two had a chat at the Full Tilt Poker tables. Dwan suggested that he would be happy to play two different challenges at the same time, if needs be and a 50,000 hand match between Jungleman12 and Dwan would almost certainly take far less time to complete than this particular matchup.
