With more than $17 million available in guaranteed prize money, spread over 27 different events, FTOPS XV is now officially underway. The first event of the latest Full Tilt Online Poker Series saw Erik Seidel host a $200 + $16 No Limit Texas Hold’em event, which was officially won by SolidGoldman24k despite a bizarre deal.
The “winner” ended up taking home $151,685.37, whilst second placed PHHSKid99 won $175,782.63 – a difference of more than $24,000!
Established in August 2006, FTOPS is held around once every three months and is a series of poker tournaments, each hosted by a different Full Tilt Pro, offering a wide spread of games and featuring several challenges. The Main Event is a $500 + $35 No Limit Hold’em tournament with a $2.5 million guaranteed prize pool and other highlights include a $500 + $35 HORSE tournament and a $2,500 + $120 two day NLH event.
Throughout the series, players can also aim to complete a series of challenges which bring further rewards. Successfully completing a challenge, such as doubling your starting stack or surviving until the tenth blind level in any FTOPS event, usually earns the player entry into an exclusive freeroll with $10,000 up for grabs, but the toughest and most rewarding is the “Million Dollar Challenge”. Should anyone cash in 17 of the 27 FTOPS events, they will be rewarded with a hefty $1 million bonus.
In addition to the large prize pools on offer, there are further bonus prizes up for grabs. Each FTOPS tournament winner scoops a gold jersey (plus a gold jersey avatar for use on the Full Tilt poker client) and all players making a final table will win a limited edition FTOPS jacket. Whoever tops the FTOPS leaderboard by the end of the series wins a custom Full Tilt avatar, plus a package worth around $8,500 in tournament entries for FTOPS XVI. A freeroll is also made available to any player eliminated on the bubble in one of the tournaments, where the star prize is an entry to the FTOPS XVI Main Event.
For the player on a budget, Full Tilt also host the MiniFTOPS series, which follows the same schedule of tournaments as the main FTOPS, but all tournament buy-ins are reduced by one tenth, offering players the chance to “turn a small buy-in into a huge score”. The Main Event costs $50 + $5 to enter and has an $800,000 guaranteed prize pool. Over $6 million in guaranteed prize money is available throughout the MiniFTOPS, which kicks off on March 10th.
