The sixteenth Full Tilt Online Poker Series is well and truly under way and the world’s second largest online poker room have made FTOPS better than ever, with $18 million guaranteed to be won, across some thirty different poker tournaments.
A few tweaks have been made to the latest instalment of FTOPS, most notably the fact that Full Tilt are now running three tournaments a day. The buy-in for the FTOPS XVI Main Event has been increased slightly to $600 + $40, but with that comes an increase in guaranteed prize money, which rises by half a million dollars to $3 million.
Of course, Full Tilt’s revolutionary online poker format “Rush Poker” has inevitably been incorporated into FTOPS XVI, with three Rush Poker tournaments offering $950,000 in guaranteed prizes. The Rush Poker events are in Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Hold’em, one of which is a NLH rebuy.
As usual, FTOPS tournament winners will get a gold jersey and special avatar for the Full Tilt poker client, while final tablists at all FTOPS events will land themselves limited edition FTOPS jackets. The player who tops the leaderboard will win a package of FTOPS XVII tournament buy-ins worth approximately $9,000, as well as a jacket and customised avatar.
Twelve FTOPS XVI have already been completed, but there is still plenty of poker to be played, the highlights being a $2,000 + $100 two day NLH tournament, a $500 + $35 HORSE competition and the $600 + $40 NLH Main Event. As ever, all FTOPS tournaments are hosted by a Full Tilt Pro, with Jennifer Harman, Andy Bloch and David Pham just a few of the bog-name hosts this time around.
Already amongst the winners is “JackQKA”, the young Englishman who took down the FTOPS XV Main Event and was later subject to ridiculous accusations of underage gambling on a well-known internet forum. This time around, he outlasted 1,023 others in Taylor Caby’s $500 + $25 Heads Up NLH competition, for a first prize of $89,088.
The biggest field seen so far in FTOPS XVI was the 8,586 drawn to the $120 + $9 No Limit Hold’em Knockout, hosted by Greg Mueller. “LuvYouLongTime” landed the gold jersey, in addition to $137,376.
If the FTOPS XVI stakes are a little too high for your bankroll, Full Tilt will once again be hosting MiniFTOPS, which kicks off on Friday May 7th. MiniFTOPS follows the regular FTOPS schedule, but the buy-in to each poker tournament is reduced to around one-tenth the size. The MiniFTOPS XVI Main Event is a $70 + $5 No Limit Hold’em affair and all three Rush Poker events will be replicated too, with buy-ins ranging from $20 + $2 to $50 + $5.
