Full Tilt and Bodog Recruiting Poker Ladies

Female poker professionalIn the past week, both Full Tilt Poker and Bodog Poker have recruited several women to their roster of poker playing professionals.

The newest member of Team Full tilt is twenty-one year old Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad, the Norwegian who burst on to the poker scene in 2007 after winning a 180 player tournament, having only looked at her cards once.

Obrestad proved that her hand reading abilities and positional skills were not restricted to the internet, by becoming the youngest person ever to win a World Series of Poker Europe bracelet later that year, earning £1,000,000 for her victory in the £10,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event.

The former Betfair Poker professional’s first appearance in Full Tilt gear will be at the forthcoming World Series of Poker, though she isn’t yet sure what events she’ll be playing in. After admitting to not having taken a good look at the schedule, Obrestad revealed that she will most likely be looking at “the No Limit Hold’em and PLO events; maybe a few of the smaller HORSE events”.

The new girl at Full Tilt is in good company, with other female Red Pros including Svetlana Gromenkova, Esther Rossi and Cyndy Violette, something she clearly appreciates, stating, “I am very excited about joining Full Tilt Poker… I’m proud to be part of such a great group of players”.

Meanwhile, Bodog Poker announced that their replacement for the departing David Williams will be Amanda “Manderbutt” Musumeci, who came out on top of hundreds of poker playing ladies responding to a promotion put on by the online sportsbook and poker room, which sought out a new player to add to their lineup.

Musumeci, who will now use the moniker “BodogMander”, claimed to be “ecstatic” upon hearing of her selection, adding, “I’ve spent most of my online poker career playing at Bodog.com, and getting the chance to play as a pro for my favourite room was the opportunity of a lifetime”.

The Philadelphia born Speech and Mass Communications graduate has won a little under $200,000 at the site she now endorses and has earned top three finishes in the Full Tilt $150,000 Guaranteed and PokerStars $100,000 Guaranteed, in addition to a PokerStars $40,000 Guaranteed victory.

Evelyn Ng and Amanda Musumeci are currently Bodog’s only professional representatives, following the recent departure of Williams, as well as online professional Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo.

Playing the starting hand in Texas Hold'em
Knowing how to play your starting hand is the first step in playing a good game of Texas Hold’em. Find out what you should know.

Finding Value in Satellites
At this moment in time, practically every poker site is tempting their clientele with gateways to multi-million dollar competitions such as the WSOP, SCOOP and ECOOP, but are they really as valuable to a player as they seem? If you were to win (say) a $50 qualifier to one of the big finals, would you not have been better off taking the $10.000 prize and then deciding what you would like to do with the money?

Poker Strategy: Online Sit And Go Tournaments
Single table "Sit And Go" poker tournaments can be a great way to improve your bankroll, as well as offering experience that can be vital if you are to succeed in the later stages of Multi Table Tournaments. Here is our guide to online Sit And Go tournament strategy.

Moving From Play Money to Real Money Games
Making the transition from the practise tables to the real cash games at an online poker room can be a big shock for many people. The play-chip games cannot have prepared you for the difference in ability between those playing for money and those playing for fun, irrespective of how well you did when you were learning the game.

Hold'em's Odd(s) Book – gives you an edge
In 1996, Mike Petriv wrote the first fully-comprehensive book on poker odds - "Hold'em's Odd(s) Book – gives you an edge". Its cheap, spiral bound format belies the content between its covers and the book has provided an invaluable source of information for poker players at all stages of their game, the world over.

Playing Ace-King
Ace King can be one of the trickiest hands to play in No Limit Hold’em, particularly in tournaments. Many inexperienced, novice players win lots of small pots holding “Big Slick”, but when they lose with Ace King, they tend to lose a massive pot, costing them their tournament life.

Double or Nothing SitnGo Strategy
Double or Nothing SitnGo's are a special type of SnG where you either double your entry stake or walk away with nothing. Normally consisting of 10 player tables, they are an excellent option for players who consistently get into third or fourth places in regular SnGs, as 5 of the 10 players are winners.
