Merge Gaming Network

The Merge Gaming Network is one of the newest and fastest growing poker networks on the Internet, having been created in 2007 from the “old” poker.com site and a number of “new” skins. Based in Australia, with their game servers located in Kahnawake, Canada, the web sites on the Merge Gaming accept players from the USA and now have 73 poker web sites affiliated to them – averaging around 700 cash players online with a peak of 1200 between the late European evening and midnight in the States.

The standard of play on the network encompasses a mixture of tight and loose across all games. The majority of ring games are played short-handed, but there are a few full ring tables which can be frequented identified as being a bit fishier than normal amongst the lower stake brackets.

Merge Gaming Software

The software has been developed in-house and has a number of key features that are stylish and unique to skins on the network. An easy to navigate lobby, leads you to a games room with good graphics and a host of features to support players in terms of comprehensive statistics, hand histories and a preferred seating option. Windows can be minimalised to accommodate players who wish to multi-table and, with the exception of annoying network offers at the foot and pre-flop “instant” card delivery, everything appears geared to some good poker play.

Bonuses

The sites on the network all use the same “Double Your Money” initial deposit bonus up to $600 and a series of rakeback and reward scheme for players who remain loyal to their respective sites. The Network is also running a $100.000 freeroll tournament series at present, which has been incredibly successful and encouraged more players to join the network.

Tournaments

The network also hosts a series of 4-hourly cash freerolls with a refreshing variety of games to choose from (not just relying on Hold´em) and the remainder of their regular cash multi-table tournament program is divided between freezeout and rebuy/add-on competitions, with nightly games seeing guaranteed pots as large as $7.500 (for an initial $30 + $3 buy-in), with a $50.000 guaranteed freezeout ($100 + $9 buy-in) each Sunday. Tournaments are played in Texas Hold´em, Omaha, Badugi and mixed poker games such as HORSE, and ring games which may infrequently be played on some other sites are well supported on the sites belonging to the Merge Network – these include Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 5 Card Draw and Razz. The lobby also offers quick links for players to access Merge Gaming casino games, backgammon, video poker and “euchre” – a trick winning card game, popular throughout North America and Australasia.
