PKR Live Main Event Won By Gábor “Gab1988″ Vasvenszki

PKR GraphicsRevolutionary online 3D poker room PKR held the fourth incarnation of their annual series of live poker events, PKR Live, at London’s Loose Cannon Club last week. Players came from across Europe to take part in the festivities, which featured Sit ‘N’ Go events, a Shootout and the PKR Live IV Main Event.

The live poker tournaments provide regular PKR players with the opportunity to put faces to online poker monikers and previous PKR Live events have proven incredibly popular with the site’s users. There is a strong community feel to the UK based internet poker room and the PKR Live Main Event’s $500 buy-in is affordable enough for many amateur players to get involved.

Karl ‘discomonkey’ Fenton, who emerged victorious at PKR Live II and now works as a member of Team PKR, attempted to describe the community feel of the poker series: “No amount of blogs, posts or pictures can really put into words what this weekend means to those who really love the community and friendly ethos of our site”.

The PKR Live IV Main Event attracted 150 players and was eventually won by 21-year-old Hungarian Gábor “Gab1988” Vasvenszki, who takes home the $20,000 first prize for his efforts. He held off the heads up challenge of Jamie ‘JJBird22′ Birdsey to lift the trophy, after a gruelling 22 hours of poker, spread over two days.

PKR are known for their innovative, forward thinking approach to internet poker and their poker client takes advantage of revolutionary graphics. The PKR Live IV Main Event also utilised cutting edge technology, as the poker tournament’s feature table used special Perlego equipment during filming. Infra-red cameras are used to read barcodes placed on the backs of each card in the deck, which remain invisible to the naked eye, eliminating the need for cameras placed underneath a clear poker table.

The fantastically named Alejandro “Jandro11” Gonzalez-Olaechea Fernandez-Mantilla won the $150 No Limit Hold’em Shootout, a side event which took place on the second day. That victory left the Spaniard $5,000 better off.

PKR.com CEO Malcolm Graham issued congratulations to “Jandro11”, as well as “Gab1988”, adding, “We are overwhelmed with the result of this year’s PKR Live IV – it has been the best yet and we look forward to plenty more PKR Live events in the future”.

PKR.com offer new poker players a deposit bonus of 100% up to $800, as well as the chance to enter premium freeroll tournaments.
