RealDealPoker Deals a Random Hand

RealDealPoker Shuffle MachineThere’s the river card. Would you believe it? The guy’s hit his miracle one outer. That just never happens in live poker games, internet poker is all completely rigged. Sound familiar?

Many internet poker players across the world believe that the online game is rigged in some way. Most of these people are a few sandwiches short of a picnic and belong in some kind of clinic, but in all fairness, it is probably right to question the authenticity of the random number generators used in online poker.

If a virtual poker room were ever found to be deliberately rigging the online decks, all their players would leave and the company would be ruined. There is a lot of money to be made through rake regardless of who wins the pot and so there is very little incentive for companies to manipulate the cards. That said, it doesn’t stop the random number generators from being badly programmed, resulting in bizarre hand outcomes occurring more commonly than they might in the bricks and mortar casinos and poker clubs.

Whatever your point of view on the “internet poker is rigged” debate, there is an interesting technological development that may help to ease the concerns of the online poker conspiracy theorists. Gene Giola and his team have created RealDealPoker.com, which will use real cards, properly shuffled by an automated system known as “Cut N’ Shuffle®”.

After the cards are shuffled, players are offered a cut. They may select where to cut the deck or they may decline. The site’s creators claim that this will help deter the use of Bots in their games, as well as adding to the authenticity of the deal.

Not only are the cards real, guaranteed to be randomly mixed and visible to all players, but the website offers users further proof of authenticity by offering to provide an audit of any game played at any time, by an independent third party, for a small fee. If the auditors are unable to show that the hand was truly fair, all players will be refunded and the player who questioned the game’s authenticity will be rewarded with the cost of the audit, multiplied by 100!

Although the poker room is yet to go live, a full launch is expected in the not too distant future. At present, RealDealPoker.com contains only minimal information, but it does feature a pretty cool little video of how the shuffling technology actually works.

This is definitely one to keep an eye on and will hopefully silence the doubters of online poker and its fairness.
