The curtain has fallen on the 2010 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker, with the Main Event being won by Ryan “toetagU” Fair, a poker professional from Coral Springs, Florida.
SCOOP, which only launched last year, features 38 different poker tournaments, with three different buy-in levels – “High” being one hundred times the “Low” buy-in and “Medium” being ten times that of the “Low” equivalent – making for a total of 114 unique events.
Fair came out on top of 615 players in the “High” $10,000 + $300 version of the Main Event, to net the $1,162,350 first prize, as well as the commemorative SCOOP watch presented to all tournament winners. The twenty-seven year old had previously finished 31st in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event and also went deep in 2008’s World Poker Tour Festa Al Lago tournament at the Bellagio.
The “Medium” Main Event drew a field of 3,675 hopefuls and eventually went to “Mr.M.M0ney” after a long heads up battle with Zack “cooperz0311” Cooper. The pair had agreed a deal with third place finisher “Athanasios 9”, which meant that Cooper took home the most prize money ($448,500) but it was “Mr.M.M0ney” who landed the watch and title of SCOOP Champion.
SCOOP 2010’s $100 + $9 “Low” Main Event attracted an impressive 19,188 entrants, making for a total prize pool of $1,918,000. The title was eventually won by “midjat” of Switzerland, who earned $191,892.59 for the victory.
PokerStars Online Pro George “Jorj95” Lind topped the SCOOP Leader Board, earning himself a shiny new trophy and ticket to the World Championship of Online Poker Main Event, as well as packages to the EPT Monte Carlo and PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
The story of SCOOP 2010 was undoubtedly that of Ben “delaney_kid” Delaney, who managed to finish in the top ten of both the “High” and “Medium” SCOOP Main Events. Sadly, that is where Delaney’s story ended, as he ran pocket tens into pocket queens on the “High” final table, exiting in ninth place, before just missing out on the “Medium” event’s final table, busting out in tenth place.
The 2010 PokerStars.com Spring Championship of Online Poker has proven a real success, with 130,746 unique entrants to the 114 tournaments and $12 million awarded across the three Main Event tournaments alone. Almost $64 million in total tournament prize money has been awarded to players from 133 different countries.
