Sic Bo

sicbo Sic Bo

Sic Bo is a dice game with Asian roots. Unlike Craps, Sic Bo will not let any of the players throw the dice. Modern Sic Bo tables normally place the dice under a glass cover and let a machine toss them around. Sic Bo is played using three 6-sided dice.

Sic Bo might sound like a strange name to the English ear, but it simply means “precious dice” in Chinese.

Skill or luck?

Sic Bo is a game of chance. Unlike casino games such as blackjack, it contains no element of skill.

However, as a player, you can chose between low risk bets and high risk bets, thereby influencing your probability of winning. In this regard, Sic Bo is very similar to Roulette, another game of chance where you can influence your chances of winning by choosing low risk or high risk bets.

A low risk bet gives you a comparatively high chance of winning, but the payout will not be large. A high risk bet is less likely to result in a winning wager, but if you do win you get a high payout.

High risk Sic Bo bets

If you feel adventurous and wish to win big, you can go for a high risk Sic Bo bet, e.g. by betting on a triple. If you bet on any triple, you will be payed if all three dice show the same numerical value, e.g. 2-2-2, 5-5-5 or 6-6-6.

An wager with an even lower chance of winning is the specific triple bet. When you make this type of bet, you have to wager on a specific triple. So, if you bet on 2-2-2 and the dice show 3-3-3 you lose your bet. If you win, you will be paid 180:1 so a $100 wager will give you a nice $18 000 payout.

Low risk Sic Bo bets

If you wish to have a comparatively high chance of winning, you can go for the low risk bets at the sic bo table. Of course, these bets pay out much less than the high risk bets when you win.

The bets Big (total dice value 11-17) and Small (total dice value 4-10) each have a probability of 48.6 percent, so placing this type of bet is very similar to betting on red/black at the roulette table. Just like a roulette table, the Sic Bo table also offers bets on odd/even. The probability for these bets are likewise 48.6 percent.

Please note that in the event of a triple, you will always lose your wager on big, small, even and odd.
