This weekend has been another busy one in the online poker world. The final event of the weekend, the PokerStars Sunday Million, drew a field of 9,687 and created a total prizepool of $1,937,400.
Unknown player “Highway51” took down the first prize of $271,241.22, but poker professionals scored big elsewhere, with Bryn Kenney coming out on top in the Sunday 500 for $71,453.75 and Joe “bigegypt” Elpayaa winning the $215 rebuy tournament, which also featured Chad “lilholdem954″ Batista at the final table.
Over at Full Tilt Poker, last year’s PocketFives number one ranked tournament player Chris Moorman took down the Sunday Brawl, earning himself $109,620 in the process. The British professional is amongst the PocketFives leaders again this year, currently sitting fifth in the table.
Chris “brsavage” Savage and -zoopreme- dealt when heads up in the Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee, with the latter eventually winning the $7,500 they opted to play for, while over at UltimateBet, the $200,000 Guaranteed event was won by Adam “AKAT11″ Katz, another professional poker player. Katz, who has made a World Poker Tour final table, earned $47,607.56 for the win.
The weekend’s action had kicked off in earnest on Friday evening, with another 61 hands being played in the “durrrr Challenge”, a fast and furious nine minute stint that saw the event pass the two-thirds complete mark. Despite its brief nature, the session still managed to improve Tom Dwan’s bankroll by $230,710, adding to his already substantial lead over Patrik Antonius, which now stands at $ 1,986,418. There are still 16,697 hands to be played but an incredible $274,109,409 has already been wagered during the challenge.
Antonius is on a horrendous downswing and his latest losing “durrrr Challenge” session was just the beginning of another miserable weekend, which ended with total losses of $923,567 for the man from Helsinki. Dwan on the other hand finished the weekend almost $800,000 up, mostly thanks to a 552 hand session of $300 / $600 Pot Limit Omaha where he made $707,785.
Unknown internet poker phenomenon “Isildur1” was also in action and he featured on the wrong end of the weekend’s most sizeable pot. Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond and Di “Urindanger” Dang were in action alongside the mystery player on the $300 / $600 Pot Limit Omaha tables, when all three found themselves shoving. The monster pot, worth an impressive $622,962, was scooped by Dang after flopping a straight that left Isildur1 drawing dead and Galfond with just a few outs to a split pot.
Despite the massive pot, Dang still ended the weekend around $150,000 down. Galfond also registered a weekend loss ($238,466) whilst Isildur1 finished up around $845,000 better off.
