WSOP 2010 Satellites

WSOP 2008 November NineThe 2010 World Series of Poker kicks off on May 28th at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. This year’s series will feature 57 tournaments, spread over more than a month, including the newly created “Poker Player’s Championship”, a $50,000 buy-in mixed games event.

For those of us that can only dream of a bankroll allowing entry to such high stakes poker events, there are plenty of ways to satellite into the World Series of Poker and you don’t have to wait around until May to do so.

This week, Full Tilt Poker have released their schedule of WSOP satellites, the highlight of which will see at least five $12,000 Main Event packages given away every Sunday between April 4th and June 27th, for just $1 + $0.10! Tournaments are scheduled to start at 13:30 ET (18:30 GMT) and if the direct buy-in of $1.10 is too steep for you, there are even smaller satellite events, from a ridiculously low 30 cents.

Full Tilt are also putting on two 81 player Shootout events per day, each offering a similar World Series of Poker Main Event package, for a buy-in of $200 + $16. Satellites to the daily Shootout tournaments also start from as little as a dollar. On June 20th, the 150 Seat Main Event Guarantee will take place, offering at least 150 $12,000 packages for just $69 + $6.

Titan Poker are offering World Series of Poker hopefuls the chance to qualify for the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha championship event, in addition to their Main Event packages. The three day Omaha tournament begins on June 1st and the $13,000 package covers six nights accommodation, as well as flights, spending money and the tournament buy-in. $15 + $1.50 satellites to the $500 + $35 Super Satellites are already underway, with the next Super Satellite due to be played on April 16th.

Other packages on offer from Titan are the “Side Events Series”, which are worth $5,500 each and provide their lucky winners with the chance to play in both WSOP Event 49 and 53, the $1,500 and $1,000 No Limit Hold’em events. Nine days accommodation and $1,800 in spending money are included and Super Satellites for these packages can be entered for $200 + $15. Smaller satellites are already underway.

PokerStars are yet to release their World Series of Poker satellite schedule, but it is expected that the online poker giant will be sending more than 2,000 poker players to Vegas for the showpiece series.

Pacific Poker will be sending 88 players to WSOP 2010, and is known as one of the loosest poker rooms on the net which might make for an opportunity to go all the way.

Poker players have never had it so good.

Good Luck!

Know Your Outs and Pot Odds
Most poker players, even complete novices, will be aware of the concept of pot odds. To become a long term winner at poker, it is essential to put your chips into the pot only when receiving the correct price (or better). As luck evens itself out over time, if you only ever contest pots that offer better than your true odds of winning, you will make a long term profit at poker.

Playing Short Handed Poker
There are two meanings for the term “Short handed” in poker games. The one most frequently applied, is when players are playing on a ring table comprising of only 6 players, however the phrase can also relate to the endgame in a tournament or single table Sit'n'Go, where the number of players has decreased as the competition progresses - ultimately resulting in a “Heads Up” scenario. Short handed poker is an area of the game that every poker player will experience at some stage, and should learn how best to manage to their favor.

How To Play Three Of A Kind
Every poker player loves to hit three of a kind on the flop. It’s a great feeling as the pay offs can be so good, but it can be a challenge to extract as many chips as possible from your opponent. This article will hopefully make it much easier for you to get paid off with your three of a kind.

How To Play The Hand - NL Tournament, Pocket Ks-Qs
You are playing in an online No Limit Hold’em multi-table tournament and the event is somewhere in the middle stages. There are nine players in total at the poker table and for this hand, you are in middle position. The blinds are currently at 75 / 150. You have a stack of 2,200 chips and the action is folded around to you.

Playing Poker when Short Stacked
Being short-stacked is a position that no poker player likes to find themselves in. You have to acknowledge that you are getting towards the end of your participation in a game and either hang on in for as long as you can, or take a chance with a shove. Neither option is wrong, but when it comes to choosing which hand you want to be all-in on, you need to be sure you are aware of all the facts.
