WSOP tournament rules are tweaked every so often to reflect changes in technology or societal behavior. Find out what the highlights are for this year’s set of rules.
With the advent of the 2010 World Series of Poker event, a few minor tournament rules have been incorporated into the already extensive list of dos and don’ts while at this tournament. WSOP has a presence to maintain and presenting a comprehensive set of rules is a large part of that.
The complete book is only a short 8-page read that explains each of the 105 rules. Players need to keep up with these rules in order to avoid being disqualified. While it is best to read the list again, for those of you who want the quick read on the changes, here you go.
Players must have their cell phones turned off while involved in game play. Of course, uninvolved players are still permitted to text or email other people, but they cannot send a message to anyone sitting in the game. If they do, both of them are going to be disqualified- a fate they are sure to want to avoid. Best bet is to simply turn the phone off and leave it off. So, it looks as though sending out tweets on chip counts and more can continue.
Another change involves a rule that requires players to remain at least a full table’s length away from the table in play while using their cell phones to talk. Makes sense, doesn’t it?
Of course, the logo policy from 2009 will remain in effect for 2010. This means that players need to steer clear of promoting potentially offensive materials including pornography, guns, obscenity, drugs, and libel.
Previous no shows or late players, including UltimateBet’s Phil Hellmuth, will need to get their act together and show up on time or risk being declared ineligible to play. Fortunately for them, they have until the third level of play starts before being declared a no show. Late registration is another no no, so players need to register prior to all initial tables being filled.
